In accordance with the letter from Radka Wildová, Deputy Minister in charge of the Higher Education, Science and Research Section of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, addressed to the rectors of higher education institutions, higher education institutions must comply with the Council of the EU regulation.

The SK RVŠ presented the Jan Opletal Award for the tenth time. In this milestone tenth edition, the CJO Committee selected a total of two laureates. These were Mgr. Michal Nguyen and, in memoriam, Pavel Švanda.

Every year, the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ) co-organizes, together with the "Endowment of Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávka" Foundation, a Commemorative Ceremony for International Students' Day and the Czech state holiday of November 17, directly followed by a student march to Žitná Street, to the memorial plaque of Jan Opletal and Václav Sedláček, where a commemorative act takes place.

This year, the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ) is organizing the 83rd General Assembly of the European Students' Union (ESU), a prestigious international event taking place right in the heart of Europe — Prague.

The Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ) is following, with deep grief, the aftermath of the events connected to the shooting on the academic premises of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. The Chamber expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to everyone affected by this tragedy.

The Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions met on January 10, 2024, for the first time under the new 2024–2026 standing session, and for the first time since the tragic events at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. The meeting was held precisely at Charles University, at the Karolinum, and was attended by Rector prof. Milena Králíčková. "I am glad that, through this gesture too, the Student Chamber can express its solidarity with Charles University, its students, and its teaching staff," said continuing Chair Michal Farník.

On November 11, we commemorate Jan Opletal, a student who was fatally wounded during an anti-Nazi demonstration in 1939. The commemoration of his memory later sparked the events of November 1989. In his honor, the Jan Opletal Awards were presented for the eleventh time. This is a national student award for active higher education students, and, new as of this year, also for secondary school students and young engaged personalities under 30. The awards are presented by the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions together with the association Díky, že můžem. The award ceremony took place at Divadlo Na zábradlí. A total of 34 individuals were nominated.

This year, the Jan Opletal Awards were presented for the twelfth time, recognizing young people for their outstanding contribution to society. The awards are presented annually by the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions together with the association Díky, že můžem. This year, too, they were presented on November 11, in honor of student Jan Opletal, who was fatally wounded during an anti-Nazi demonstration in 1939. The commemoration of his memory later sparked the events of November 1989. This year's award winners were students and young people who, through their work, have contributed to the fields of science, education, healthcare, and civic assistance. A total of 53 individuals were nominated, and three of them received their award at Divadlo X10 in Prague

At the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions' (SK RVŠ) most recent October meeting, Tereza Marková, delegate of Palacký University Olomouc, was elected Chair. The outgoing First Vice-Chair of the SK RVŠ thus takes over from Jakub Sláma, delegate of the Czech Technical University in Prague.

The thirteenth Jan Opletal Awards ceremony offered greater space for the stories of young personalities who, through their determination, ideas, and empathy, are changing the world around them. For the first time in the award's history, nine finalists were presented from a total of 106 nominations, before the laureates themselves were announced. The Czech Republic's largest student award this year went to Anna Julie Wittmannová, of Hejčín Grammar School in Olomouc, for connecting education and charity work; Martin Pisarčík, of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, for his courage in opening up discussions on ethics and justice within the higher education environment; and Veronika Kamenská, of Masaryk University, for the project Nepanikař ("Don't Panic"), which helps people with mental health difficulties around the world.
