Doctoral Studies Committee

Within the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ), doctoral study affairs are primarily handled by the Doctoral Studies Committee (KDS). Its activities include collecting examples of good practice, discussing issues related to doctoral studies at individual higher education institutions in the Czech Republic, organising relevant events (such as the Summer School for PhD students in cooperation with the National Library of Technology), and advocating for changes in Czech legislation in favour of doctoral students, including the reform of doctoral studies in line with the Ministry of Education’s Strategic Plan

Engagement and Collaboration

Czech Association of Doctoral Candidates (ČAD)

In advocating for improvements in doctoral studies, the Doctoral Studies Committee of the Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (KDS SK RVŠ) cooperates with ČAD (the Czech Association of Doctoral Candidates), a nationwide association bringing together Czech and international doctoral students in the Czech Republic across various academic disciplines.

The Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ) and ČAD have created a guide for those considering pursuing a PhD (Guide for Newly Enrolled Doctoral Students).

Eurodoc

The Student Chamber of the Council of Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ) is also involved in addressing issues related to doctoral studies at the European level. Through its membership in Eurodoc (the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers), it cooperates with representatives of 28 national organisations from 25 countries of the European Union and the Council of Europe.

Each country has the right to nominate two delegates to Eurodoc. The current Czech delegates are Jindra Lavrenčíková (University of Pardubice) and Alex Mičáň (Prague University of Economics and Business).
