Health insurance
Since 1 January 2018, doctoral students have been included in the category of so-called state-insured persons, for whom the state pays insurance premiums, unless they are engaged in other work or self-employment. However, students must register for this category themselves, within 8 days of the occurrence of the fact, i.e., from the date of enrolment in the study. When registering, it is necessary to submit a document confirming their studies, confirmed by the study department, and a completed affidavit.
Students are also not allowed to have “above-limit” earnings from work performance agreements (DPP) and work activity agreements (DPČ): under DPP, they are allowed to earn a maximum of CZK 11,500 per month, and income from DPČ must be lower than CZK 4,500 per month. Income from the the author’s royalties cannot exceed CZK 10,000 per calendar month.
